Abstract
West Nile Virus infection has drawn medical and public attention in the last decade due to increases in its incidence and severity and spread to new territories. In travelers most reported cases are from developed countries, mainly in North America. Clinical manifestations can vary from mild febrile illness to flaccid paralysis and encephalitis, which is often fatal. Currently, no treatment is available, and reduced exposure to mosquitoes is the main protective approach.
