Abstract

Though many well-documented techniques have been described for rejuvenating the lower lid region, treatment of the tear trough region remains as a challenge. The skin and soft tissue overlying the tear trough area is very thin, therefore filler injection or autogenous fat grafting directly to the tear trough might result in palpable and visible contour abnormalities if the fat is not precisely placed. Furthermore imprecise placement of a filler or fat can also lead to a sausage-shaped deformity.
