Abstract
Myocarditis, and autoimmune heart disease, are classical examples of the interaction of infectious agents, particularly viruses, and the immune system in producing an autoimmune phenomena or disorder. Numerous components of the immune system are involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune heart diseases, all are illustrated through this chapter. In addition, various infectious agents, including enteroviruses and SARS-CoV-2 among others, are discussed.
