Abstract

Villous tumors represent approximately 5-10% of all colorectal lesions. The importance of the lesions lies in its malignant potential and the impossibility to determine preoperatively the existent degree of malignant degeneration. A retrospective study of 26 patients with histologically documented villous lesions of colon and rectum treated at the Meir Hospital in the last 15 years, 1966-1980. The present study was done to evaluate the malignant potential, clinical behavior and diagnostic aspects of colorectal villous adenoma and its prognosis according to the surgical treatment.
