Abstract

When interval velocity analysis is carried out over complex geological regions, the use of scattering-angle CIGs may cause significant inaccuracies. The reason for it is the summation over dip-angles which can eliminate information from the analysed CIGs. In this study the idea of performing the interval velocity analysis in the dip-angle domain is discussed and demonstrated with synthetic and field data examples.
