Abstract
On laparoscopy of 1048 sterility cases, the uterus assumed a blue discoloration following the routine injection of methylene blue in 29 cases. Except for one case, these were all primary sterility cases. The clinical and laboratory findings in these 29 cases included: seven cases of histologically proven tuberculosis, 12 cases of suspected tuberculosis on the ground of radiologic evidence in 8 and primary hypomenorrhea or amenorrhea in 4. There were 10 cases with no evidence of tuberculosis. The blue discoloration of the uterus was considered as the laparoscopic variant of the uterolymphatic intravasation seen on hysterography. Although a blue uterus at laparoscopy may not be specific for tuberculosis, it may serve as an additional sign of this disease in silent or latent form of genital tuberculosis.
