Abstract
The group U 3 J, where the spin and baryonic number replace the isospin and hypercharge respectively, is discussed. The spinchanging currents are constructed in terms of a fermion field which is a Goldstone field arising from the nonlinearity of the transformation laws. All the other fields are considered as being formed from this fundamental field. For a relatively simple model, irreducible representations containing together mesons and baryons, and corresponding mass formulae are obtained.
