Universal behavior of exclusive hadronic cross sections at large angles

Abstract

We show that the large-angle differential cross sections for exclusive processes are governed by a universal function G(pT)=(pT2+0.71 GeV2). At accelerator energies, the angular and energy dependence in the nondiffractive region is well described by d σd t s-2G(pT)-N, where N=5,6,and 8, respectively, for the reactions γ p→πN, πN→πN, and p p→p p.
