Abstract

The first reported pregnancy after in vitro fertilization (IVF) of a preovulatory human oocyte and subsequent embryo transfer (ET) was a tubal pregnancy. Since then, the techniques of IVF and ET have been widely and successfully used to treat infertile women, particularly those with tubal disease. There have been only a few other reports of ectopic pregnancy following IVF-ET; yet in one center extrauterine gestation reached an incidence of 10% of the established pregnancies. Although spontaneous tubal twin pregnancies have been previously described, to our knowledge this is the first report of a unilateral tubal twin pregnancy following IVF-ET.
