Une identité professionnelle à éclipses: The professional identity of journalists

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

French TV journalists have been stating for a long time their «professionalism». An historical survey shows us that, far from reflecting a cumulative process as it seems to be doing, this affirmation has several fonctions. It is bound to be restated, by
some categories of journalists in some specific situations. There are thus different varieties of professionalism (linked with political independence, technical expertise, collective work of the news team) of which none can bring ail journalists together. In
this respect, television journalists are not different from the rest of their colleagues.
