N2 - We explore the fluorescence quenching behaviour of 1-naphthol and 2-naphthol photoacids in halocarbon solvents with time-correlated single-photon-counting and femtosecond IR-spectroscopy, and conclude that halocarbon solvents facilitate an efficient de-excitation mechanism through solute-solvent electron transfer.
