Abstract

Five term neonates diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenia were treated with 1 g/kg/day intravenous γ-globulin. Clinical and laboratory evidence of thrombocytopenia resolved completely in 4 of the 5 patients after a single dose. Only 1 patient received a second dose of the drug. This treatment protocol requires less γ-globulin than other protocols to safely reduce length of hospitalization.
