Trapping a soliton by localized gain in a lossy fiber Bragg grating

Abstract

A model of nonlinear fiber grating with a "hot spot", which combines loss with locally applied gain and increment of refractive index, is introduced. Solutions for pinned solitons are found analytically. Their stability and collisions of moving solitons with the hot spot are investigated numerically.
