Abstract
The transmittances of gold and aluminium films were measured near the percolation threshold. A scaling-type behaviour as well as an optical cross-over from metal like to insulator like was observed near the electrical d.c. percolation threshold. Near the threshold the transmittance exhibits a very weak wavelength dependence in the IR region, reflecting the special properties of the percolating network at the critical point.
