N2 - We study THz light emitted from nonlinear metasurfaces, excited by low energy femtosecond lasers. Conversion efficiencies comparable to 2500-fold thicker nonlinear crystals allow measurement of α-lactose absorption lines, showing suitability for time domain spectroscopy.
