Abstract
A biography of the Polish Israeli Holocaust historian, Yisrael Gutman, is presented. He was born in 1923 in Warsaw, Poland and participated in the Jewish social/political movement HaShomer HaTza'ir while living in the Warsaw ghetto. The article also explores his experiences during World War II at the Auschwitz concentration camp, and his post-war experiences in Poland and Israel. Topics of the biography include Jewish resistance, ghetto life, and the Kibbutz Movement in Israel.
