Thermal fluctuations and transition rates in the microwave induced steps of a current driven Josephson junction

Abstract

We present an approximate analytical calculation of the fluctuations in and transition rates out of the microwave induced steady states of a current driven Josephson junction, based upon the Fokker-Planck equation. As a result, we predict the form of the I-V characteristic in the presence of noise for a certain range of the parameters of the system.
