Abstract

In recent years, applied climatology has become increasingly important in planning and building. Planners, architects and climatologists have attempted to integrate various climatological parameters at all planning levels with special regard to building design. This paper presents the concept of, and a methological approach to, applied climatology for climatic planning and its application to the planning and building of the new city of Bet-Shemesh, Israel. The climatic-environmental framework and methods used during the planning process of the new city of Bet-Shemesh, as described in this paper, will contribute to the creation of a city of high climatic quality, benefiting all of its future residents. -Authors
