Abstract

Techniques for external recording of His bundle activity have been based on triggered signal averaging. We report on a new noninvasive method for recording the His potential, which employs cross-correlation function for the waveforms' alignment. This method is a frequency-domain analysis which uses the fast Fourier transform (FFT) for data processing. The processing is completely digital and is accomplished with a CDC-6600 computer. The method was tested by comparing the QRS-triggered signal averaging with the cross-correlation method, using simulated and recorded (real) ECG waveforms. It is concluded that the new method results in a more accurate signal and can be successfully applied in a clinical environment.
