Abstract
The purpose of this article is to discuss the word mānaḫtu/mānaḫātu which appears four times in the Statue of Idrimi inscription. The exact meaning of the word is not evident. Evidence from the Maison d’Urtenu from Ugarit will help us assess the meaning of the word in the inscription. A short discussion of the historical significance of the term in Idrimi’s Alalakh under the hegemony of the Mittanian state will close our contribution.
