Abstract

The chapter provides an introduction to creativity. After describing the current state of creativity as a domain involved in changes in regard to the range of domains, individuals and disciplines dealing with it, a multicomponential model of creativity is described, including cognition, motivation, personality, emotions, mental health, behavior, and the sociocultural environment. The summary highlights major characteristics of creativity across components and forms of interaction between them. The contrasting tendencies in each of the constituents of creativity are identified and discussed. The conclusions focus on recommendations for interventions designed to nurture and develop creativity.
