Abstract

Lesions of the posterior oral cavity, oropharynx, and parapharyngeal space have been difficult to access through transoral or external neck approaches. The mandibular swing operation affords a safe and easy route to these lesions. It must be ascertained that malignant lesions are free of the mandible. This technique obviates the need for rehabilitation of the lost mandibular segment and the inherent problems thereof.
