Abstract
Degania, the first kibbutz, was founded in 1910. Three kibbutz movements, Hakibbutz Ha’artzi, Hakibbutz Hameuhad, and Hever Hakvutzot were established in the mid-1920s. (Our article omits the Religious Kibbutz Movement.) A generation later, in 1951, an ideological and political schism led Hever Hakvutzot and part of Hakibbutz Hameuhad to unite to form Ihud Hakvutzot v’Hakibbutzim. Another thirty years would elapse until all three would form the United Kibbutz Movement.
