The Impact of Occupation on Israeli Democracy.

Abstract

The article focuses on the impact of Israeli occupation eroding Israeli democracy through a narrow neo-Zionist patriotism, a culture of disregard for the law and a divided national identity. It talks of identifying five main reasons of deterioration in Israeli democracy including intensive use of propaganda, a weakening of the authority of law, and the involvement of the military in politics and concludes that Israeli society needs to identify within the equation of Jewish and democratic state.
