The genetic structure of the incompatibility factors of Schizophyllum commune: Comparative studies of primary mutations in the B factor

Abstract

Primary mutations in the three classes of the B factor were detected. The mutations map in the α and β loci of the B factor. The characteristic mating behavior of the mutant strains suggests functional differentiation of the α and β loci. Alternative interpretations are discussed.
