Abstract

This article reports on the prevalence of eye disorders among 282 residents of a nursing home, who were examined by an ophthalmologist in an in-house eye clinic. Almost all the residents had at least one eye disorder, and over half had two or more eye disorders, primarily cataract and atrophic age-related macular degeneration. The prevalence of eye disorders underscores the need for eye care in nursing homes.
