Abstract
Prostaglandins E2and F2a have a mild stimulatory effect (+ 11% to 18% from baseline) on the in vitro ciliary beat frequency in tracheal rings, which contain mucus-producing cells, and in brain slices, which are devoid of mucus. Results are compared with previous studies and the merits of the used experimental models are discussed.
