Abstract

The effect of temperature and sunlight on growth and survival of young Nile crocodiles was studied in a farm near Mombasa, Kenya, over a 5-month period. Both high temperature and direct sunlight, and also their combination, had a positive effect on both growth and survival. The positive effect of sunlight contradicts the common belief that crocodilians perform best in darkness.
