Abstract

Over a period of 18 months, from January 1988 to June 1989,8 patients with chronic omphalitis were treated in a Multi-Specialty Military Clinic, using a CO2 laser. A significant decrease in periumbilical pain, elimination of the disturbing chronic discharge, and vaporization of the reactive granulation tissue were achieved, suggesting this technique as an attractive option in the treatment of chronic recidivant omphalitis.
