N2 - These metaphors are not merely casual, adventitious uses of imagery to enliven the narrative of the textbook occasionally, but are rigorously and systematically developed analogues for educational programs : in fact they comprise the fundamental cognitive structure of the work. Furthermore, the evaluation of the program is based upon these systemic metaphors. That is, the criteria for the program emerge directly from the metaphorical transformation of the program into industrial production and the other metaphors.
