Abstract

The article discusses the question of where the ancestral home of Jehu and his dynasty was located. No source explicitly identifies the dynasty's place of origin, and the evidence for establishing it is circumstantial. The article reviews in detail all the available textual and epigraphic evidence and suggests that the Nimshides might have originated from the Gilead, a location that explains the fierce struggle between Aram and Israel over control of the Gilead in the dynasty's time.
