Abstract

The occurrence of the Budd-Chiari syndrome following pregnancy seems to suggest a more than incidental finding. Similar observations have been reported in the literature, but the close relationship between the two has not been been stressed. It seems that an increase in blood coagulation factors in pregnancy, as occurs in patients taking oral contraceptives, plays a role in the etiology.
