The Aṣ-Ṣāniʕ Arabic prepositions: min and ʕin : syntax, semantics, and cognition

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

This work discusses syntatic, semantic, and cognitive properties of the prepositions min and cin (dialectal reflex of can) in traditional as-Sanic Arabic, compared to Classical Arabic, and with some observations on italian prepositions di and da. An important achievement of this work is represented by the experimental methodology developed by the author to grasp the semantic parameters underlying the contrastive distribution of min vs. cin and of simplex min vs. min compounds and min chaims in traditional as-sanic Arabic. --
