Abstract
Six patients suffering from various cardiac conduction defects were treated preoperatively by insertion of a temporary cardiac pacemaker as a precaution against possible complications during the operative and postoperative periods. The indications for the preoperative insertion of temporaty cardiac pacemakers in orthopaedic surgery are discussed.
