Abstract

The study of temporal solitons in quadratic nonlinear media with normal second-harmonic dispersion was presented. The existence of soliton solutions and their stability region was identified using the variational approximation and direct simulations. The stable solutions were found for large and normal values of the second-harmonic dispersion in the presence of large group-velocity mismatch between the fundamental- and second-harmonic fields. It was found that the soliton has tiny nonlocalized tails in the second-harmonic field, for which an analytic exponential estimate was obtained.
