Abstract

The temperature dependence of the magnetoresistance of an insulating Al70Pd22.5Re7.5 quasicrystal was discussed. The low magnetic field magnetoresistance data taken at liquid helium temperatures of an insulating Al70Pd22.5Re7.5 quasicrystal having a resistivity ratio ℜ = ρ(4.2 K)/ρ(300 K) equal to 77 was interpreted using theories of magnetoresistance in the variable-range hopping regime. The results showed that the magnetoresistance for samples with larger values of ℜ was small and negative at weak magnetic fields, and became large and positive at strong magnetic fields.
