Abstract
Basal tear secretion measured by the Schirmer test was estimated in 102 patients suffering from pterygium and in 242 controls with no anterior segment complaints. Basal tear secretion was significantly less in the pterygium patients. 7.15 ± 1.4 mm/5 minutes as compared with 14.2 ± 4.3/5 minutes (p<0.001).
