Abstract
The results of surgical procedures performed on 23 eyes with retinoschisis are recorded. Anatomical success was achieved in 20 eyes and the visual acuity was improved in 5. Surgical procedures appear to be less destructive than light photocoagulation. They do not involve further loss of visual field and may be expected to improve vision when the macula presents cystic changes which precede retinoschisis.
