Abstract

An available computer program- SUPER SCEPTRE - for analyzing electromechanical devices and systems is introduced. This general-purpose, nonlinear program can analyze electrical, mechanical, digital and control systems, separately or in combination. With the use of this universal program, there is no need for special purpose computer programs individuals are writing for their electromechanical problems. To illustrate the program capabilities, the transients of several problems were solved. This includes: a thyristor controlled series motor, a 3-phase thyristor converter controlling a constant field motor and a linear versus nonlinear model of a series motor. The nonlinear model includes the magnetization curve, iron and mechanical losses and armature reaction.
