Subwavelength structure imaging

We expand conventional superresolving imaging systems toward extraction of suboptical wavelength structures. An imaging system that is capable of imaging subwavelength details is presented. Homogeneous waves carrying information on spatial frequencies exceeding the classical limit of resolution can be created by diffraction of evanescent waves. These homogeneous waves are able to pass through an imaging system. The high spatial frequencies can be recovered from these homogeneous waves by appropriate decoding. We present the theory of subwavelength structure imaging, depict a special holographic recording method that is eventually implemented in experimental validation in which subwavelengths details are imaged using a conventional imaging setup.
