Abstract

Skin tests with mosquito cxtract and also experimental exposures to the bite of mosquitoes, have shown that strophulus-like skin eruptions in children in Israel are largely due to the bite of Culex pipiens molestus. In the majority of such cases, a schedule of intradermal injections of commercial mosquito extract can be effective in reducing or eliminating the strophulus-like phenomena and also the delayed response to the mosquito bite, for periods of up to 5 years and possibly more.
