Abstract

Polycrystalline C60 films have been studied before and after annealing using surface photovoltage spectroscopy. The results indicate the possibility of the existence of band tails, extending into the optical gap of these films, as well as other deep gap states. Annealing at moderate temperatures is shown to reduce the density of these states. A possible energy band scheme is proposed.
