Abstract
Polymeric and non-polymeric complexes of 5-ethylpyrimidine, pyrazine, 4-methoxy-5-ethylpyrimidine and 2,2′-bipyrimidine with Cu(I), Cu(II) and Ag(I) were prepared. No complex was formed with 4,6-dimethoxy-5-ethylpyrimidine. The dependence of the type of complex formed on the metallic ion and on the structure of the diazinic ligand is discussed. The polymeric complexes had a composition of metal:ligand = 1:1. The electrical conductivity, in the solid state, of the complexes was measured, and was found to be higher for the polymeric complexes than for the non-polymeric complexes.
