Abstract

The restricted space available here does not allow coverage of all of the important aspects of such a broad and polydimensional topic as the relationship between stress and sleep (animal models of stress outcome on sleep are discussed in Chapter 17). Thus, the present chapter deals only with data collected in humans, and will concentrate on contradictions among the data, proposing an integral theoretical approach to the problem.
