Abstract

Estradiol output from plaice ovarian fragments was stimulated in vitro by homologous pituitary extract, the stimulation being dependent on the dose. Human chorionic gonadotropin at a concentration of 25 IU/ml had no significant stimulatory effect. The results provide evidence that estrogen secretion from a teleost ovary is controlled directly by a pituitary agent.
