Abstract
We report on an incresae in the steady-state fluorescence Stokes shift of coumarin 153 when LiClO4 is added to polar solvents. A new relaxation process is observed in the presence of the electrolyte which is realted to the ionic atmosphere relaxation around the large dipole created in the excited state.
