Abstract

We examined the radial distribution of 1227 blue knots in the rectified planes of 32 galaxies and showed that the method is equivalent to mapping the distribution of HIi regions from narrow-band imaging in Hα. The blue knots show less detail in their distribution, as compared with H ii regions or with a parameter measuring the local efficiency of star formation. This is interpreted as showing the diffusion of OB stars out of the regions where they formed.
