Abstract

The problem in this contribution is not the willingness to establish links between the various prophetological concepts found in Manichaeism because all of which have already been well studied, but trying to show that the multiple influences - which are not so obvious to establish - may go back to an Eastern substrate attested in all the religious cultures of the Near and Middle East. This substrate emerged in certain categories of people during struggles for power or the conquest of territories. In other words, it is the troubled times which give rise to prophets.
