A physical model is analyzed based on coupled Ginzburg-Landau equations that supports stable temporal solitary-wave pulses. Two parallel-coupled cores consist the system, one with a quadratic nonlinearity, the other effectively linear. The nonlinear core is active, with bandwidth-limited amplification built into it, while the linear core has only losses.
