Abstract
A case is reported in which traumatic contusion and rupture of spleen were associated with the development of consumption coagulopathy. Splenic arteriography demonstrated a 'starry night' spleen. Based on this angiographic picture, a hypothetic pathogenesis for the development of the consumption coagulopathy is suggested.
